From 31 October – 4 November, a Most Beautiful Bays in the World delegation consisting of Jérôme Bignon, President, Bruno Bodard, Managing Director, and Nguyen Hoa Tam, Advisor for Asia, was received to carry out a visit of the Cambodian coastline. The visit was part of the coastline’s admission process to the network, following the agreement by the general assembly to accept the Cambodian candidature.
A meeting to present the coastline and for the exchange of ideas took place at Sihanoukville on 1 November, in the presence of the Ministers of the Environment and of Tourism, as well as all the governors concerned. In front of about a hundred officials, Jérome Bignon was able to conjure up our vision, namely: “To protect, to develop”.
A position that is all the more easy to understand given that the magnificent coastline is still untouched and that the recommendations on the subject of land management seem to be shared completely by the Government of Cambodia.
At the end of the trip, the delegation was received at Phnom Penh, by Monsieur Sok An, Deputy Prime Minister, who congratulated the work done and reaffirmed his fervent wish to see Cambodia join our network.
